Team 6B at Sharon Middle School is raising money to help children in Ecuador and Peru through a “Send A Smile” campaign to benefit Global Smile Foundation (GSF). As part of a school-wide effort in service learning in February, Team 6B learned about the mission and work of GSF to provide comprehensive cleft care for underserved patients around the world. The teachers then guided the students through a brainstorming and planning process to determine how they would raise funds. The team put their creativity to work and asked teachers throughout the school to donate their time by hosting fun, after-school activities that students can purchase tickets to attend. Eleven teachers have volunteered to host events like a trivia contest, karaoke club, and game night. The students are also going beyond the school community to ask friends and family for support via an online donation page (https://give.classy.org/SMS_Team6B).

Global Smile Foundation is honored to work with these incredible students and teachers and is grateful for the support.
