Junior Board
There are three chapters of the Junior Board: High School, College, and Ambassadors. Junior Board members work within their school, social, and/or professional networks to hold educational events and fundraisers as well as volunteer at GSF events. About Harrison
I joined the GSF Junior Board because witnessing the impact a smile can have on a child’s confidence and future drives my commitment to this cause. I believe no child should suffer from an untreated cleft lip/palate.

My name is Julien Liu and I’m a GSF Junior Board co-chair. I am currently a high-school senior some hobbies include baking, watching anime, and playing water polo. I have joined the junior board to help spread awareness about children with cleft lip and palate as well as raise money to help underserved children receive the support they need to recover. I hope the junior board will be able to have an impact on these children’s lives!

My name is Matthew O’Neill and I am from NY. I am passionate about changing lives by supporting cleft care for children born with cleft lip/palate. I believe that children should live their lives without anything being in front of their way. I am on the board because more people could make a huge impact.

I joined the GSF Junior Board because I wanted to help provide essential surgeries to children in need because of my passion for healthcare. Additionally, I am hoping to make a meaningful impact on their lives because I am also very passionate about working with children and youth advocacy.

Mia Soehl

My name is Mia and I am on the board because Global Smile Foundation has been a part of my life for quite some time as my family is involved in the foundation a lot, particularly in Ecuador. GSF is something I am very passionate about because I want to help make a difference in these children’s lives anyway I can. This foundation means a lot to me and it’s a pleasure to assist and support the wonderful work they do.

Luciana has volunteered for GSF by writing patient stories to highlight the impact of comprehensive cleft care. She has also played a key role in creating certificates recognizing those who give their time and skills. Her commitment has led her to a leadership role as a Junior Board member, where she helps manage the board’s contributions to the newsletter. She has also raised funds for GSF by designing and selling handmade smile-themed bracelets.

I’m pursuing a biology degree and hoping to go into the medical field, specifically pediatrics, which is why the GSF Junior Board is a perfect organization for me. I’m hoping to get leadership experience and make new connections while supporting cleft care in underserved communities. I believe healthcare should be more accessible, especially for children, so GSF’s mission resonates with me.

Michael Nessralla
Michael is a founding member of the first GSF Junior Board in 2019. He is now a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, where he studied Biology and International Affairs. His passion for scientific innovation and global health equity fuels his ambitions. With a keen interest in emerging technologies that shape human health, Michael is excited to be part of the Global Smile Foundation. This opportunity allows him to pursue his passions while actively contributing to making cleft lip and palate care more accessible to those in need of it.
