The founders of Global Smile Foundation (GSF) have known from the beginning that the need for specialized cleft care around the world is far greater than what any NGO can provide single-handedly. Empowerment and sustainability of local talents are very useful tools in Global Health. That is why our mission has always gone beyond providing comprehensive cleft care to include education and training initiatives for cleft care providers.
In addition to the Comprehensive Cleft Care Workshop (see article below), GSF shares knowledge and insight by publishing significant findings in peer reviewed medical journals. Past publications include specific cleft lip/palate surgical techniques, emergency and safety protocols, and quality assurance guidelines for cleft care in outreach settings.
One of our recent articles was accepted for publication in Cleft Palate Craniofacial Journal, “Simulation-Based Comprehensive Cleft Care Workshops: A Reproducible Model for Sustainable Education.” Thanks to the GSF Research Team for your hard work!
